Divinity Grace Cavapoos

Meet the Cavapoo

With their teddy-bear faces, affectionate personalities, and playful little spirits, Cavapoos have a special way of capturing hearts. A delightful cross between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Poodle, these charming companions combine the Cavalier's loving nature with the Poodle's intelligence and eagerness to learn.

At Divinity Grace Cavapoos, we adore Cavapoos for more than their adorable appearance. We love their devotion, their playful personalities, and the joy they bring to everyday family life.

The Story Behind the Cavapoo

The Cavapoo, also affectionately known as the Cavoodle in Australia, began gaining popularity as an intentionally developed crossbreed in Australia during the 1990s. Breeders sought to combine two beloved companion dogs to create a loving, intelligent, and adaptable family companion.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has a rich history as a cherished companion in the royal courts of England. Known for its gentle nature, soulful eyes, and devotion to its people, the Cavalier contributes much of the Cavapoo's affectionate personality.

The Poodle, originally developed as a water-retrieving dog in Europe, brings intelligence, athleticism, and a coat that may shed less than that of many other dogs.

Together, these two breeds helped give rise to the Cavapoo, a charming companion that soon won the hearts of families in Australia and eventually gained popularity in the United Kingdom, the United States, and around the world.

Today, Cavapoos are treasured for their loving dispositions, playful spirits, and ability to become wonderful companions in many different homes.

Cavapoo Characteristics

  • Size: Typically 8–25 pounds as adults, depending on their parents and genetics.

  • Lifespan: Often around 10–15 years.

  • Coat: Straight, wavy, or curly, in a variety of beautiful colors.

  • Temperament: Affectionate, playful, intelligent, and people-oriented.

  • Energy: Moderate for many dogs, with a balance of walks, playtime, and cuddles.

  • Grooming: Regular brushing and professional grooming are essential.

Every Cavapoo is unique! Their size, coat, shedding, and personality can vary depending on the traits they inherit from their parents.

Made for Family Life

Cavapoos often thrive on companionship and love being part of the family's everyday adventures. They may enjoy backyard play with the children, neighborhood walks, learning new tricks, or curling up beside you after a busy day.

Their intelligence and affectionate nature can make them wonderful companions for first-time dog owners, couples, and families alike. With proper socialization, training, and supervision, they can also learn to live happily alongside children and other pets.

Cavapoos can adapt to many lifestyles, from apartment living to homes with spacious backyards. What matters most is providing regular exercise, mental stimulation, grooming, and plenty of loving companionship.

Understanding Cavapoo Generations

You may see several generation labels when researching Cavapoo puppies:

  • F1: A first-generation cross between a purebred Cavalier and a purebred Poodle.

  • F1B: Commonly an F1 Cavapoo crossed back to a Poodle.

  • F1BB: Commonly an F1B Cavapoo crossed back to a Poodle again.

  • F2: Typically the result of breeding two F1 Cavapoos together.

  • Multigenerational: Cavapoos bred over multiple generations.

These labels describe a puppy's ancestry, not a guarantee of appearance, size, temperament, or shedding. Every puppy inherits a unique combination of traits.

Coat Care and Health

Cavapoos may inherit straight, wavy, or curly coats. Curlier coats often require frequent brushing to prevent tangles and mats, along with regular professional grooming.

Although some Cavapoos shed less than others, no dog is guaranteed to be hypoallergenic.

Responsible breeding and appropriate health screening are also important. Cavapoos can inherit health conditions from either parent breed, making health testing, veterinary care, and knowledge of family health history essential.

Why We Love Cavapoos

There is something special about a little dog who turns ordinary moments into treasured memories. From happy greetings and backyard adventures to quiet evenings filled with cuddles, Cavapoos have a beautiful way of becoming part of the family.

At Divinity Grace Cavapoos, we believe welcoming a puppy is about more than finding a beautiful dog. It is about finding a companion to love, nurture, and include in your family's story for years to come.
